Hoi An in central Vietnam is one of those places that everyone raves about, and for good reason. The Ancient Town is absolutely magical, and it’s hard to deny the charm and beauty that comes with its old yellow  houses and lantern-lit alleyways. Hoi An is also a coastal city boasting beautiful sandy shores blending perfectly with blue waters. And then between the town and the coast, there is Tra Que vegetable village, Located 3km away from the center of Hoi An, Tra Que, with its lush grassland, marvelous rice fields, and tranquil lakes, is well-known as the only freshest and cleanest vegetable supporter for Hoi An. It is one of the most beautiful rural areas of Vietnam. Tra que villagers are always proud of their products, They shared that all herbs in Tra Que are made without toxic or chemicals. It also has a natural fragrant smell thanks to the seaweed manure from lake nearby. In addition, the unique farming land has greatly contributed to the fame of Tra Que vegetable. Even though you take seeds to another village for growing, the quality is not as good as they are in Tra Que.

Full Intinerary

The drive about 1,5 hours to Tra Que Vegetable village outside of Hoi An city about 3 km, ( first stop) When we arrive, Make a visit to a local family to see how they live, enjoy their home drinks made, listen to their story life …Then you will be given an introduction to the history of the village. This short lesson provides a lot of interesting information about the cultivation of vegetables and discovering their uses in traditional Vietnamese medicine. You will take a trip around the vegetable garden, The local famer will teach you  how to grow herbs, separate land for suitable herb type, water plant, then  join the farmers in preparing and fertilizing the land with seaweed from the local lake. Other activities will include: raking, sowing, picking greens vegetables and much more…Those who are not really good with their first-time farming still find plenty of joy during the process

Next on your itinerary is water buffalo riding. Yes, you read that right. Buffalo riding is a part of the Vietnamese childhood in the countryside. The water buffalo is a very friendly and gentle animal, and back in the day used to be the main working force for the farming industry. Locals used water buffalo to plow the rice fields before plantation and to pull wagons full of farming products and harvested crops. While there is now more modern and efficient technology, it’s difficult to apply such automation in Vietnam due to its topography.

Most fields are located on hills or mountains and due to their small sizes, water buffalo are still favored in these areas where neither humans nor machinery can move as easily through the deep, sticky fields. The advantages of using water buffalo are endless and in addition to providing labor, their manure can also be used as fertilizer. In Tra Que however, the farmers stick to using the seaweed and algae found in the river and lagoons around.

If you’re worried about getting close to the buffalo, don’t be. They are used to having people around. Just take it a step at a time, and treat it like you would treat any other animal. They really are very gentle creatures. Once on, try navigating the buffalo yourself, but if you need help, we are right there with you. Just enjoy your moment as the buffalo peacefully grazes. Remember to take pictures and if you want, you can try to get a selfie with the buffalo!

Next, arriving to Nipa Palm Coconut Forest and take a ride on bamboo basket boat. The Basket Boat is locally named the “Thung Chai” originate from Vietnam and are considered very valuable for the owners which is made of bamboo and are mainly used by fisherman in Central Vietnam. Most of fishermen who are working in the ocean or river really need to use it for their livelihood because of its convenience . Because of its unique and little know to many tourists . In this special part of tour ‘The Hoi An Village Experience’ would like to bring the value guests to a peaceful, quiet and picturesque fishing village named Cam Thanh where is about 5 km from Hoi An ancient town. Local fishermen will show you how to paddle Basket Boat, joining a basket boat racing competition, learn how to catch purple crabs with a small  rods, Learn how to throw the big fishing net…They also make some gifts from the coconut leaves for you as souvenirs …

After all real local activities, you will enjoy a delicious local lunch at family house. ( Rice Pancake, Spring Rolls, Steamed Shrimp & Pork, Mackerel Barbecued Fish, Morning Glory cooked with Garlic, Steamed rice, Seasonal Fruits... )

Your afternoon tour will begin an enjoyable walking tour of this pretty town of Hoi An, your guide will show you the Japanese Bridge explaining the history of this famous landmark.  You will also visit a traditional house, a Chinese Assembly Hall and a cultural and historical museum.  You will then have time to stroll around the town and buy souvenirs or some beautiful paintings which is famous in Hoi An.

We will then begin our drive back to the Port and make sure that you will be on time for the next departure
