The Farming Life Experience Tour

Tour Summary

Everywhere in Vietnam you can see rice. Vietnamese people eat rice everyday in their meals. Rice is part of their life and it reflects the Vietnamese culture. Nowadays, technology is applied widely in producing rice and that helps much farmers and it is less hard in farming work. But the old traditional way of producing rice is still kept unchanged in some parts of the country as it is the basic work to have rice. Hoi An Ecotourism would like to help tourists understand the life of the countryside people. You can join us to learn all about rice: raking soil on the field; scooping water, transplanting rice, preparing cooking rice… We back you to the old life of our ancestors. You will help the farmers work on the field. The local farmer will instruct you how to cultivate rice in the fields ,from planting the seeds to harvesting the ripe grain, and finally with a delicious lunch of rice ( or Dinner).

Full Intinerary

I will pick you up at your hotel' loppy  around  8AM by Bike. another transport available upon request .

Biking  to my Rice Farming  Village of  Cam Thanh  .On the way you will go through picturesque countryside roads  with the rice field, nipa palm forest, shrimp or fish  farm...you will have opportunity to witness local Vietnamese rural life ,you can get up close and personal with the daily life of them.(45 minutes or 1 hour)

    Reach my house, be welcome with tea and wet tissues. Following, be explained about the whole process of wet rice cultivation and answer any questions  related to farming life that you may have.

   Then wearing farming clothes, hat  before getting into muddy rice field near my house  to working  as a real farmer  with friendly water buffalo , you also have a chance to enjoy a buffalo riding on the field for photo.

   The next step, local famer will demonstrate the whole process of wet rice growing with buffalo as following steps:

-water the field by traditional way to make the soil to be soft

-ploughing soil to make it to be soft and porous

-Raking soil to make it to be flat, smooth

-Then, we transplanting rice by hand, and show you harvesting techniques as well.

Now, it is time for you to have a go with farmer’ help, these activities will help you have a real touch to our rice farming daily life. 

    Go back to my house , taking a rest and enjoy a glass of passion juice.then learn how to making white rice (Rice product ready to use in Viet Nam ) by traditional way with some old hand machine in my house:

    Firstly,Husking the rice to have brown rice - winnowing to separate brown rice from husk – sifting and pounding brown rice  to become  white rice - grinding white rice to get rice flour, and cooking rice pancake from rice flour .You will join a short rice pancake cooking class with my wife - Last  step is :Enjoy the Lunch  with some specialties of our village : Tam Huu (three friends ), Deep Fried Spring Rolls (vegetarian style), Local rice pancake serve with fresh organic vegetable and home made fish sauce, Steamed rice, Fish (or chicken' meat ), shrimp,pork, Season fruits

The tour will be finished around 12- 1 P.M.Biking back to your hotel.
